Text-to-Self:
This book in general reminds me and connects to how people have secrets. Tess knew about who had stolen the constitution test, and why the people who got perfect scores got them. Along with what she thinks was the murder of Nina. Even though there were risks to telling people about her secrets, she went ahead and told someone about her problems. This reminds me of how I sometimes have to tell secrets I know, even if I had doubts.
Text-to-Text
This book reminds me of when in the book Ruin Rebbeca fell in love with Aton but she had doubts with him since she knew he was friends with the "popular" kids. When Tess fell for Damein she wasn't sure if she believed he cheated on the constitution test too since he had a bracelet like the other boys that cheated. Tess believed that Damein was a nice guy. She felt comfortable with him so she asked him what the bracelets meant. Tess was relieved when Damien said they were wish bracelets. Rebbeca also had felt comfortable around Aton she would ask him questions she could ask no one else. Both girls had to decide whether or not they could trust their crushes and they had to figure out who the boy really were.
Text-to-World
When Tess told on Rick for being a suspect in his wife's murder/suicide, that reminded me of how in the real world sometimes kids have to tell on big problems they know of. Even if thier parents don't go to the police with it. Some people evne tell thier kids not to tell anyone, because it's a family secret. In Tess's case she knew she had to tell someone because this situation wasn't one where she had to listen to her parents. Many kids in the real world have to deal with deciding on whether or not to tell someone their secrets and have to wonder what the outcomes can be.
